Washington, DC: National Association for Family & Community Education Gives Characters Pillars

Clarence the Caring Dragon adorns the first page of the 2001-02 school-year calendar from the National Association for Family & Community Education. The calendar focuses on the Pillar of Caring, and other months show artwork and essays on caring by youngsters who won a nationwide contest. Vice president Margaret Mai notes that the FCE has seven copyrighted characters, and has given six a Pillar. The seventh is a smiling TV tube called “Tubee,” the mascot for the FCE’s “Tune Out Violence Campaign.”
