Anderson, IN: CC! Week 2007, simply TRRFCC!

The Center for Character Development at Anderson University, the City of Anderson and Anderson Community Schools are celebrating Character Counts! Week 2007 with community events and school programs. Under the theme "Celebrating the Character of Madison County," the week's festivities focus on the people, places and images that make Anderson and Madison County such a special place.

CC! Week Block Party:
Over 750 Anderson & Madison County families helped Mayor Smith & CC! Friends kick-off CC! Week 2007

Since Anderson's inception as a Character Counts! (CC!) Community in 1998, community leaders have continued to embrace the CC! initiative as an effective tool for promoting character education throughout area schools and businesses.

"Character education has had a profound impact on our city," said Kevin Smith, mayor of the City of Anderson. "As Anderson's economy continues to grow, it is essential that we equip our leaders of tomorrow with a strong foundation of character."

Operation Character:
Indianapolis Colts tight end Ben Utecht, Dr. Mike and comedian Sandi Patty rocked the Wigwam with over 2,000 Madison County elementary students, teachers and principals.

In 2008 Anderson will celebrate its 10 th anniversary as a CC! Community. Don Peslis, director of The Center for Character Development at AU, hopes that all community residents become engaged in the week-long activities.

"We want to encourage all Madison County citizens to become involved in National CC! Week" said Peslis. "Instilling good character into our youth requires all community residents to take action. It's up to all of us, on a daily basis to make Character really Count in Anderson and greater Madison County."
